County Seat Spirits was founded in 2014 as the Lehigh Valley's first state licensed and federally permitted (DSP-PA-20019) distillery since prohibition. We began distilling in the Fall of 2014 and opened our tasting room to the public in February 2015.
County Seat Spirits is an independently owned and operated craft distillery located in the "County Seat" of Lehigh County - Allentown, Pennsylvania. County Seat Spirits was founded by John Rowe and Anthony Brichta.
County Seat Spirits started as a simple idea when Anthony visited Kings County Distillery in Brooklyn, New York in the fall of October 2012 and observed first hand the satisfaction that can come from taking raw ingredients and hand crafting them into finished spirits. After spending the better part of 2013 learning everything he could about distilling and craft distilleries, Anthony approached his uncle, John Rowe, about turning the idea into a reality and learned that John too had been exploring the idea of opening a craft distillery!
John and Anthony spent several months scouting locations throughout Pennsylvania and settled on Allentown, Pennsylvania. Not only is Allentown a city with a rich history but it is a city that is in the midst of a renaissance. Streets that were once marked by empty buildings are now filled with thriving businesses, restaurants and an arena. John and Anthony are proud of the progress Allentown has made and excited to make County Seat Spirits a part of its future. As a tribute to the great people of the Lehigh Valley, we have chosen to name our first products after the great history of the Lehigh Valley.
Our goal is transform what a "County Seat" means to its citizens. Our vision of a county seat is a place where people live, relax, work and most importantly - make things that the community around them can be immensely proud of. At County Seat Spirits, we work everyday to personally and proudly make the finest craft spirits we can.
